The Righteous Star

This is the comment that was given by
Dr. Jennifer Chen, Associate Professor of Early Childhood and Family Studies College of Education, Kean University New Jersey, United States of America, in 2014 when I asked for her endorsement about this story. Her little girl loved this story and “The Righteous Star” is a beautifully written story that captures what “real beauty” truly is. The moral message of real beauty, including “kindness” and “wisdom,” is that inner beauty is more important than outward beauty or power. This message is particularly important for children to learn and think more about as they try to understand the materialistic world in which they live where the focus is often on outer appearance. The illustrations are vivid and should appeal to young children. The idea reflects the thoughtfulness and consideration of the writer, Ailin Iwan, and the illustrator, Crystal Bruce. Ailin Iwan and Crystal Bruce

It is my honor to work with Crystal Bruce. She was only 10 years old when we collaborated in the Righteous Star project. She did the drawing with some instructions from me and I did mostly the coloring. This project took sometimes to finish because I moved from San Francisco to Hong Kong and this project was not completed until I came to Hong Kong.
The idea behind the Righteous Star is to send positive message to children not to be envious with others' abilities but to cultivate inner beauty. I would like to give free access to anyone who wants to listen to the story through launching the youtube version of The Righteous Star.
